PHILIPPINE Airlines (PAL) yesterday said that while the government has suspended regular commercial flights as part of its community quarantine measure to curb the COVID issue, local carriers have been allowed to operate 'all-cargo flights' thus enabling PAL to operate such flights from Manila to several domestic and international stations.
PAL spokesperson Ma. Cielo Villaluna said that from March 19 up to the present (March 27), PAL has mounted ten roundtrip all-cargo flights between Manila and Cebu/Iloilo/Davao/and Cagayan de Oro.
She said PAL will be operating an all-cargo roundtrip flight between Manila and Osaka as of yesterday and will be mounting the same between Manila and Bangkok; and Manila and Shanghai on March 29.
“The government's Inter-Agency Task Force has made it clear that all-cargo flights are allowed to operate within the duration of the community quarantine period,” Villaluna said.
She added: “This has enabled the PAL Group to fly essential cargo such as medicines, medical supplies and equipment from Manila to our domestic outlying stations in the Visayas and Mindanao utilizing its Airbus A321 fleet.”
