THERE is no doubt Las Piñas Mayor Imelda Aguilar is doing a great job for the city, especially in providing livelihood and employment for the people.
Her initiative to fully operate the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the city government is one proof of her wonderful deeds.
Headed by Red Garcia, the Las Piñas PESO has been one of the busiest components of Aguilar’s well-oiled public service machine, serving thousands of jobless residents.
The PESO office is always filled with job applicants which are screened and processed by Garcia and his wards before being referred to establishments supportive of Aguilar’s employment program.
Many establishments in Las Piñas are backing up Aguilar’s multi-faceted thrust including her business-friendly policies which are benefiting a lot of enterprises in the locality.
The mutual relationship between the city government and the business community thus paves the way for having more people getting employed.
Keep up the good work Mayor Meldy.
Poor DPWH project
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) should check on the drainage improvement project along Aguilar Avenue (formely CAA Road) in Pulang Lupa, Las Piñas because of its slow-paced implementation.
Such results to a very nagging traffic problem in the area, resulting to people getting late for work and businesses losing valuable opportunities.
Aside from slow work, the project also appears to be done without quality standards considering how many of the new manholes have now turned into virtual garbage bins because they have remained open and neglected by the contractor for months.
Obviously, this is not the way President Duterte wants his Build Build Build program to proceed because the way I see it, the project is a waste of peoples’ money and time.
Sub-standard McDonalds branch
I hate writing about poor restaurants or food establishments because they are businesses that provide income to workers and revenues to entrepreneurs. They even contribute to economic growth.
But there is really one McDonalds franchise in Las Piñas that needs to be reminded of the high service and hygiene standards that its principal office is strictly upholding.
As a regular customer of the franchise, I have often called the attention of its managers in the past but its shortcomings have not been addressed until the other day when I tried checking out the place again.
Let’s see if there would be changes in the coming days.
