Covid-19 vaccination campaign

PRESIDENT Duterte continues to oppose the idea of Davao City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio seeking the top political post of the land in next year’s national and local elections.

And the presidential daughter herself has repeatedly said that she has no plans of being his father’s successor in 2022, preferring to just focus on raising her three children.

Of course, this is “good news” to pro-administration politicians and members of the political opposition alike, who are eyeing the presidency, according to political analysts.

Kasi alam nila na mahirap kalaban si Inday Sara. With her sterling qualities, kayang-kaya niyang pag-isahin ang iba-ibang personalidad at political groups,” they added.

And the country’s political leaders ought to believe the hard-hitting Chief Executive and Mayor Sara because the two are known to be notoriously honest and soaked in sincerity.

With the lady mayor out of the picture, would-be presidential candidates, pro-administration and critics, are seen to start selecting their vice presidential and senatorial bets.

Note that the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has released the “Calendar of Activities” for the May 9, 2022 presidential, congressional and local elections.

Under the “Calendar of Activities,” the filing of certificates of candidacy (C0Cs) starts on October 1 and ends on October 8 this year, which is just seven months away.

This early, would-be presidential bets should strike a pre-election deal with the various political groups and come up with a new direction aimed at speeding up the economic recovery.

Certainly, economic recovery is the most urgent issue facing the Filipino people as the government addresses the crippling coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
