OFFICIALS yesterday credited the string of major anti-drug victories by the government to the enhanced partnership between the Philippine National Police headed by General Archie Francisco F. Gamboa and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency even as PDEA chair, Director General Wilkins M. Villanueva called anew on the public to use the PDEA hotlines in tipping off illegal drug activities in their neighborhood.
Over the past two weeks, the PNP specifically its Drug Enforcement Group headed by Brigadier Gen. Romeo M. Caramat Jr., in coordination with the PDEA have seized around P8.4 billion worth of high-grade shabu in a series of major anti-narcotics operations in the country.
“The PNP continues to be in the frontline of ensuring public safety by going after illegal drugs. There is no let-up in our campaign even as we are facing the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Gen. Gamboa as he commended the major accomplishments scored by the PNP-DEG and the other Police Regional Offices since the month started.
For his part, Villanueva called on the public to immediately report any illegal drug activities in their neighborhood to the PDEA hotlines so that proper and immediate actions can be undertaken by the Agency.
He said that public may send their reports to “Isumbong Mo Kay Wilkins!” concerning suspected illegal drug activities in their community by texting, or calling: For Globe Subscribers: 09953547020 and for Smart/Sun Subscribers: 09310278212. These are 24/7 hotlines, Villanueva said.
The member of Philippine Military Academy ‘Maringal’ Class of 1988 also appealed to the public to send private messages to his Facebook page: Wilkins Villanueva.
The official who, along with Gen. Gamboa, has been commended and promised by President Duterte of his full support in their war on drugs, assured that the identities of the persons providing them information regarding illegal drug activities will be kept in utmost secrecy.
The “Isumbong Mo Kay Wilkins!’ Facebook page was created solely for informants and concerned citizens who want to help our country in its fight against illegal drugs,” said Villanueva.
Apart from providing a venue that is accessible to the public to report to PDEA drug-related activities taking place in their communities, “Isumbong Mo Kay Wilkins!” also offers the fastest, secure and affordable means to receive information from concerned individuals.
“Supplied information may lead to the conduct of intelligence operations, and casing and surveillance operations, resulting in the arrest of high-value targeted personalities, seizure of sizeable amounts of illegal drugs, and dismantling of illegal drug facilities,” Villanueva said.
“Rest assured that all received information will be treated with utmost confidentiality. Send reliable information and help us end the drug menace,” the newly installed PDEA chief said in encouraging the public to be more involved in the national anti-drug campaign.
Gen. Gamboa commended his men for their increasing anti-drug accomplishments. On Independence Day, agents of the National Capital Region Police Office headed by Major Gen. Debold M. Sinas seized P18.25 million worth of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ in Caloocan, Navotas and Marikina cities.
