THE House of Representatives of the 18th Congress under its dedicated and working leaders Speaker Alan Cayetano and House Majority Leader have bee receiving a resounding ovation and deserves continuous applause for sterling achievements in such a short time.
The Cayetano and Romualdez-led House has already passed not just one, not only two, but three priority bills despite ongoing budget deliberations with less than 60 days or two months since Congress convened its first regular session,
The bill imposing additional excise taxes on alcohol, tobacco and vaping products was approved On August 20.
House Bill 304 or the “Passive Income and Financial Intermediary Taxation Act” and HB 300 or the “Amendment of the Foreign Investments Act” were passed less than a month later,
Credit for this unprecedented feats definitely goes to Romualdez and Cayetano.
Both exemplary leaders have clearly been the unifying force amongst congressmen with diverse opinions and views.
Romualdez and Cayetano’s vast experiences, wisdom, charm and ‘malasakit’ as legislators and diplomats have obviously worked in thier favor.
Thanks to the leadership skills of Romualdez and Cayetano, the public has been spared from the political bickerings that usually occur in the House prior to the passage of measures.
Thanks to them, time, which is gold, has been and continues to be maximized.
When Romualdez was elected House Majority leader and Cayetano as Speaker, they promised to push for measures that would benefit Filipinos.
“It is the duty of the 18th Congress to help sustain the successes of President Rodrigo Duterte’s programs and projects to continue this momentum for economic takeoff,” said Romualdez, who chairs the House Committee on Rules, after spearheading the recent session to pass President Rodrigo Duterte’s two priority bills, namely, House Bill (HB) 304 or the PIFITA and HB 300 or the FIA.”
“Sana po ako’y maging worthy at sana po ay tulungan niyo ako para sa loob ng 15 na buwan ay mapagsilbihan po natin ang ating mga kababayang mabuti at lahat po ng nasa legislative agenda, ubusin na natin at ipasa na natin dahil mas magandang magawa na natin ito kaagad,” Cayetano had said.
Truly, Romualdez and Cayetano are men of their words and role models.
