Grasping President Duterte’s July 13 speech in full, including the audio recording Malacañang withheld but which media managed to get, one could feel his intense fury against oligarchy and those he believes run it, including the Lopez family of ABS-CBN network.
Amid the abundance of “Pu**** ina” and insults like “p***** i** Español ang salita, ang mukha naman parang tindera ng palengke ang p***** i**” heaped on supposed oligarchs, the President’s seething anger was obvious.
And he did mention names like “Ayala, Pangilinan, and Consunji” which Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque acknowledged was blurted out by President Duterte in his “Talk to the Troops” at Kuta Heneral Teodulfo Bautista Headquarters in Jolo, Sulu.
Amid Roque’s insistence that the owners of the giant media network were not being referred to in the President’s tirade against oligarchs, it was clear in the audio recording that President Duterte mentioned ABS-CBN and its supposed wrongdoings as he lamented: “And to think that they talk and they play God over the lives of the Filipino.”
Did Roque deliberately mislead the public in hiding the President’s anger against ABS-CBN? And why did Roque include Lucio Tan as among those being referred to in the Jolo event when nowhere in the entire speech could one find Tan’s name mentioned?
All equipment ng ABS-CBN, tax free pumasok. Tapos ang titulo nila, 44 hectares. 44 square meters, [Mother] Ignacia [Street], it’s supposed to be 44,000 square meters. Yung mga lokohan na," Duterte said. "Tapos may mga holding company sa labas… Cayman, tapos may holding company sa Hungary, dun nila binubuhos. Kunwari, may ano sila, may investment sila dun. Padala sila ng pera. Pero yung investment na yan, wala na. Yung pera hindi na yan babalik. Kaya walang taxes. And to think that they talk and play God over the lives of the Filipino.”
In the withheld audio recording, instead of talking of the Lopezes at once, Duterte started his tirade against oligarchs whom he described as “mga mayaman na ginagatasan ang gobyerno pati ang tao” by mentioning the other names first.
“And it runs into billions. I do not know how the Ayala, Pangilinan, and Consunji will pay the Filipino. I have accepted their apology pero ‘yung akin, ‘yung ano ko lang – ‘yung galit ko lang, talagang galit. Hindi pwede yung magalit ka na at sabihin mo lang ‘Well, imbestigahin mo kasi ganun’ p***** i**, ilan taon ninyo sinasalsal ang tao?” Duterte said.
“Imagine paying for a water treatment facility nandiyan sa billing ninyo in 1997 until today kumukolekta pa. P***** i**, kaya ako nagpupu**** i** at may katwiran talaga ako mamut**g i**, letse sila!” Duterte raged.
And then he lashed out at the giant network.
Ginawa ko,” he declared.
Duterte also narrated in the withheld audio recording how he cursed and humiliated the oligarchs.
Then yung income tax nila, p***** i**, ang Pilipinas ang nagbayad,” Duterte fumed. (To be continued)
