WITH the current economic and health troubles their “top priorities,” government authorities‘ “primordial concern” is to save lives not only in the metropolis but elsewhere.
That’s why the government imposes the strictest quarantine restrictions in certain areas to halt the surge in COVID-19 cases, according to Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go.
Senator Go said that saving the lives of the people, which includes addressing hunger and poverty, is a major concern of the authorities while the government is fighting the pandemic.
And the neophyte senator, a close friend of President Rodrigo Duterte, was quick to emphasize that regardless of quarantine restrictions, there’s that need for discipline, vigilance and cooperation.
Go said the imposition of enhanced community quarantine is taking its toll on the economy, noting the healthcare system will suffer if the nation’s hospitals reach full capacity.
Go, chairman of the Senate committee on health, asked the country’s local government units (LGUs) to strictly follow the national government’s “vaccine priority list.”
The former Special Assistant to the President after noted that “kulang pa ang mga bakunang dumarating.”
Filipinos, particularly the hundreds of thousands of workers displaced by the pandemic, list the devastated economy as one of the most important problems that the nation faces.
Pero aminado sila na kailangang masiguro muna ang kalusugan ng taumbayan bago isipin ang pagbubukas ng ekonomiya.
