Eleazar hits fake news on UPORs

JOINT Task Force COVID Shield commander, Lieutenant General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar yesterday hit a disinformation campaign on social media specifically Facebook which says that they have already allowed the unhampered travel in any part of the country of Unauthorized Persons Outside of Residence or UPORs.

Eleazar clarified that Travel Authority has been and will remain a requirement for people who are not included in the list of the Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APOR) if the travels involve crossing the border of Metro Manila, of a province and of a Highly-Urbanized City (HUC) even if most parts of the country is now under the Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ).

The clarification was made after the JTF COVID Shield was informed by disinformation on social media in an apparent attempt to mislead the public that the National Task Force on COVD-19 has already lifted the restrictions for all travels in any part of the country.

“The current disinformation on social media, referring to a “social card”, did not come from the JTF COVID Shield and was already circulated a few months ago. But it is now being used again to make it appear that it is a new declaration from the JTF COVID Shield purposely to confuse the public and eventually discredit the efforts being made by the national government to contain the spread of the coronavirus,” Lt. Gen. Eleazar said.

The official maintained that all persons manning Quarantine Control Points in Metro Manila and other parts of the country are under strict orders to prevent the movement of UPORs as part of their effort to help prevent further spread of the deadly COVID-19 virus.
