Employee without mask points gun at cops, hurt

A MALE employee was wounded when he allegedly resisted a Manila Police District (MPD) bike patrol member who accosted him for not wearing a face mask while the suspect was walking along the McArthur bridge in Ermita, Manila.

Suspect Joel Limacob, of Bgy. 659, Ermita, Manila, underwent treatment at the Andres Bonifacio Memoria Medical Center (GABMMC).

Investigation by the MPD-Station 5 showed the incident took place at around 10:20 a.m. near the Lawton Ferry.

PCPL Afran Tobiagon, a member of the MPD’s DMFB-Bike Patrollers, was said to be patrolling the area along with his group when they saw the suspect shirtless and without a face mask or a face shield which is mandatory in Manila when one is in a public place.

Police said that when accosted, the suspect drew a gun and pointed it at them, prompting one of them to shoot, hitting him in the body. Limacob was brought to the nearest hospital for treatment.
