ALDEN Richards is thankful to all the viewers who followed his primetime drama, “The Gift”, for the past five months. It started airing in September and is now ending on February 7.
“We had a good run and in all those months na lagi kaming magkakasama sa taping, naging close ako sa lahat co-stars ko, from Jo Berry and Tita Beth Oropesa as the women who raised me, Jean Garcia as my real mother, my friends sa series na sina Mikee Quintos and Mikoy Morales, at lahat-lahat na sila, naging maganda ang bonding naming lahat,” says Alden.
He adds that their taping is always full of good vibes. “Masaya lagi ang atmosphere sa set, parang pamilya na ang naging turingan namin, so I’m positive na we will all miss each other. This is one of my longest soaps at pati production staff and crew, also si DIrek LA Madridejos, mami-miss ko lahat sa ganda ng naging samahan namin so tiyak na babaunin namin ang magandang relationship na nabuo namin doing ‘The Gift’.”
Alden’s fans continue to praise “The Gift” for its positive insights imparted to the viewers. The spiritual message is so strong in Alden’s character as Sep, whose faith in God remains to be very intense. This is evident when Martin del Rosario as the evil Jared tried to run him over but the incident actually became a big blessing in disguise as God only used it to be an instrument in restoring the blind Alden’s eyesight.
The acting of Alden in that scene where he opens his eyes and discovers that he can see again is just priceless as you watch his emotion building up. He becomes teary eyed with joy and immediately offers a silent prayer to the Lord as the accident happened right in front of a church. As the series nears its end, things get edgier when Christian Vasquez as Javier kidnaps Jo Berry as Strawberry to force Alden to withdraw his court case against Martin del Rosario. Jo Berry gets hurt in a shooting incident and is currently confined in the hospital fighting for her life. Alden prays hard for her to survive this.
After “The Gift”, Alden will immediately have a new show, the reality search for talented kids, “Centerstage”, that will start airing soon.
“Excited ako rito kasi the last time I hosted a talent search was in ‘Bet ng Bayan’ pa many years ago,” he says. “At dito, mga bata ang contestants and I’m really happy to be of help in starting their showbiz careers.
