Andrea cries as she celebrates birthday without Derek

Andrea Torres and Derek Ramsay

TWO Kapuso stars celebrated their birthdays on May 4: Andrea Torres and Winwyn Marquez. Andrea has a special someone, Derek Ramsay, but she celebrated her natal day far away from him because of the corona lockdown.

As for beauty title holder Winwyn, she hasn’t had a boyfriend since she broke up with Mark Herras two years ago and she says she’s not missing having one. “Hindi talaga ako naghahanap,” she insists.

As for Andrea, she got a birthday greeting on video from Derek a day before her birthday. And not only that, on the day of her birthday itself, Derek compiled the greetings of friends close to Andrea and co-workers she has worked with before in various shows. He also included his own parents, his son Austin and his manager, Joji Dingcong, then sent it to her, saying:

“Hi babe! I wanna wish you a happy, happy birthday. I really wish I could be there with you to give you a hug and a kiss, but unfortunately we’re still under quarantine. But I really wanna make you happy on this day, so I prepared a little something from people who love you just as much as I do.”

But of course, Andrea is brimming with happiness and she replies: “This means so much!!! I’m so happy! Thank you Babe! I love you! To all those who greeted me, thank you, I’m so touched and still crying. Ha ha!”

Andrea and Derek will be paired anew in a new Kapuso show, “Sanggang Dikit”, an action-drama, but they have to wait for the lockdown to be fully lifted before they can start taping for this new show.

As for Winwyn, she was last seen playing a kontrabida role in “Dahil sa Pag-ibig”. And just before the lockdown, she was able to finish a 6-episode mini-series for DIrector Joel Lamangan, “Beauty Queen”, where she plays the UP activist daughter of Gloria Diaz who becomes a beauty pageant winner then joins the rebel movement.

Winwyn was stuck at home on her birthday because of the pandemic and she shares her thoughts in her social media account: “This is not the birthday celebration that I planned, but I am still happy to have spent it at home with my family and got connected with some family members and friends throughout the day through different platforms.”

What’s her birthday wish? “When I blew the candle on my birthday cake, all I wanted is for everyone to stay healthy and safe, and that the Lord will make this pandemic end soon. Let us not allow fear and anxiety to rule over us.”
