ARRA San Agustin was supposed to be Ken Chan’s leading lady in “My Special Tatay” but Ken’s relationship with Rita Daniel in the story captured more the sympathy of the viewers. Arra now gets her biggest break playing the title role in “Madrasta”, which will soon be aired on GMA-7’s Afternoon Prime.
Arra is a discovery of Starstruck Season 6 where the female winner was Klea Pineda, now also being launched in her own soap, “Magkaagaw”, with Jeric Gonzales. Arra has done supporting roles in soaps like “Meant to Be”, “Encantadia”, “The Cure” and also became a regular in “Bubble Gang”. How is it now that she’s finally given her big break playing the lead role in “Madrasta”?
“Siyempre, sobrang nagpapasalamat po ako sa GMA sa pagtitiwala nila sa akin,” she says. “Feeling pressured po ako on how the people will receive it, but I’m really doing my very best para hindi ako mapahiya. I think we’ve come up with a show for the whole family that will easily endear itself to the viewers’ hearts.”
Arra is a college graduate, majoring in psychology. In “Madrasta”, she plays the role of Audrey, a nurse who comes from a poor and humble family.
“Gusto kong makatulong sa family namin kasi baon kami sa utang para lang maka-graduate ako sa college. Susubukan kong magtrabaho abroad, sa Canada, pero may mangyayari pong problema roon at doon ako magkakaroon ng malaking struggle.”
Playing her leading man is Juancho Trivino who plays a doctor, Sean Ledesma, whose wife, played by Thea Tolentino as Katharine, abandoned him and their kids. Juancho then meets Arra and makes her the stepmother or madrasta of his kids with Thea. Sean’s mother, played by Gladys Reyes as Dr. Elizabeth Ledesma, is against Arra for her son. Then Thea will then make a comeback on the scene to make things even more complicated for Arra.
Also in the cast of “Madrasta” are Isabelle de Leon as Judy, Manilyn Reynes as Grace, Almira Muhlach as Shirley, Pythos Ramirez as David, Anjo Damiles as George, Kelvin Miranda as Barry and Divine as Debbie. This is directed by Monti Parungao.
