JANE Oineza is Regal Entertainment’s favorite actress. Lately, she has done more films with Regal than with her home network, ABS-CBN. She was in Regal's “Haunted Forest”, “Finding You” and “Ang Henerasyong Sumuko sa Love”. Now, she starts off 2020 playing the romantic leading lady in Regal’s offering for the love month of February, “Us Again”, opposite RK Bagatsing of “Cuddle Weather”, directed by newbie filmmaker Joy Aquino.
The movie is about the risks people take when they fall in love. The poster and the trailer of the film ask the vital and valid question: “Ang dalawang taong nagmahal kahit mali, umasa kahit imposible. Maging sila kaya hanggang sa huli?”
“‘Us Again’ is not the usual romantic film with familiar characters,” says Jane. “The characters are so complicated and I want to thank Regal for giving us the chance ni RK to work again with each other. Nagkatrabaho na kami before in a teleserye sa ‘Araw Gabi’, but this is our first film together. I play Margie, a medical technician whose dream is to be a doctor pero hindi natuloy. RK is Mike, a struggling artist. We meet and had an affair which we thought was perfect, but we eventually realized it’s a mistake so we called it quits. Then five years later, we meet again and we ask ourselves if we could be us again. Have we learned from the mistakes we made in the past? Or is it too late to start all over again?”
In real life, does Jane believe in second chances and has she ever experienced being “Us Again” with a estranged lover? “Ako naman, hangga’t kaya ko, I’m willing to give another chance to an erring love. But pag sobrang ginagago ka na and he keeps on doing the same mistakes, I think it's only right that you should stop and give more focus and importance to yourself. At ako, kapag natapos na, wala nang ‘Us Again’. Wala pa akong ex na binalikan ko.”
Does she have any regrets about her past failed relationships? “I have no regrets at all kasi I’ve learned valuable lessons from my past relationships. They helped me in becoming a better version of myself. So walang dapat pagsisihan kasi naka-contribute sila sa kung sino at ano ako ngayon at this point in my life.”
So how is it doing love scenes with RK in the movie? “Comfortable ako sa kanya kasi we’ve done similar scenes before in ‘Araw Gabi’. Maalaga siya sa kaeksena niya and he’s a real gentleman. Never nagte-take advantage.”
How is it working with a new director like Joy Aquino? “First full length film niya po ito as she’s a former cinematographer who directed TV commercials and music videos. She’s okay naman. She knows what she’s doing and certainly shows a lot of promise. I’m sure masusundan pa ang project niyang ito sa Regal with more movies kasi lahat ng nakapanood na ng movie namin sa special previews really liked it. They were all impressed.”
