SUE Ramirez says it wasn’t hard for her to accept TV5’s offer to do “Oh My Dad”. “Kasi after I read the script, nagandahan ako and I liked the project right away,” she says at the TV5 mediacon. “And let’s face it, we all need work and I’m happy na may trabaho kami ng lahat ng kasama ko rito.”
But it was a challenge taping during the pandemic. “Siyempre, we have to observe safety protocols. Ibang-iba ang sitwasyon sa set. Sa rehearsals, naka-mask kami lahat. You remove it na lang kapag take na and it’s a real challenge kasi sa rehearsal, hindi mo makita ang facial reactions ng kaeksena mo, but you learn to adapt naman, pati doon sa walang uwian hanggang sa matapos ang buong taping at dapat, walang magkakasakit habang nasa set.”
In “Oh My Dad”, she plays one of the three illegitimate kids of Ian Veneracion, who’s paired with Dimples Romana. The other two kids of Ian are Louise Abuel and Adrian Lindayag, but they have different mothers. This is under the direction of top director Jeffrey Jeturian.
On the big screen, Sue has just finished the action-drama, “Kid Aplha One”, opposite new action star Javi Benitez. It’s common knowledge that romance developed between them while making the movie. Javi proclaimed recently in his social media account: “I want to treat you like a queen!” To which Sue replied: “Thank you for everyday, Palangga! I love you so much!”
Billy busier as a performer and a father
BILLY Crawford is so lucky as he has two new shows on TV5, but with different producers. Since TV5 opened its station to blocktime buyers, so many content producers have started producing new programs for the network. One of them is Brightlight Productions which is the company behind Billy’s daily lunchtime show that starts airing on Monday, October 19, “Lunch Out Loud”, and Viva Entertainment which produces “Masked Singer” that starts airing on October 24, a Saturday.
So how is it to be a new dad to their son, Baby Amari? “Words can’t really express what I felt when I first saw our son,” he says. “Of course, first of all, we have to thank God for giving us our own angel. And I salute my strong, brave wife for what she went through in giving birth to him. I have nothing but gratitude and respect for her. It’s a life changing experience and the past few nights, walang tulugan talaga, but it’s okay. We enjoy every minute of it. I can’t be more in love with my wife and our son.”
He’s now definitely much more inspired to work and he considers Baby Amari as a lucky charm since no less than two new shows came to his lap after ABS-CBN lost its franchise. He welcomes doing “Lunch Out Loud” with Alex Gonzaga and their co-hosts. In “Masked Singer Pilipinas”, he’s the host with Aga Muhlach, Cristine Reyes, Matteo Guidicelli and Kim Molina as the celebrity jurors.
“Masked Singer Pilipinas” is just one of the five new shows that Viva is producing. The others are: “Ghost Adventures” – a comedy-horror series with Benjie Paras as Jack, a ghost whisperer, with Empoy Marquez and Kylie Versoza joining him in his hilarious adventures, to be shown Saturday nights starting October 31.
“Bella Bandida” – Ryza Cenon in her first title role as a new superhero promoting woman empowerment loosely based on Francisco V. Coching’s comic novel of the same title. This will start on November 23, along with “Kagat ng Dilim”, a horror anthology to make viewers scream with fright to be directed by top directors like Richard Somes, Lawrence Fajardo, Paul Basinillo, and Rae Red.
Last but not the least on the list of Viva’s first 5 on TV5 is “Onstage”, where you can relish the moments that made history in the concert scene. Catch your favorite artists perform their hits and more! Some of the titles to look forward to are: Anne Curtis’s “Anne Kapal Forbidden Concert”, “Revolution: The JaDine Concert”, “The Crew: Billy Craword, Sam Concepcion and James Reid”, “Playlist”, “SiKat Ako: Katrina Velarde Concert”, “Martin & Side A”, Martin Nievera 3D, Martin Nievera and Sarah Geronimo’s “What Love Is?”, and more Sarah G’s concerts, such as “In Motion”, “The Next One”, “From The Top”, and “The Great Unknown”.
GMA to push Khalil to greater heights
KHALIL Ramos is now a Kapuso artist. He gained fame when, at the age of 15, he became first runner up to Marcelito Pomoy in ABS-CBN’s “Pilipinas Got Talent 2011”. He played major supporting roles in many teleseryes and movies, and Star Cinema also gave him his own songs and records.
But naturally, his Kapuso girlfriend, Gabbi Garcia, is rejoicing that they now both belong to the same network. She wrote this for him in her social media account: “Always proud of you, my love. Welcome to GMA, @TheKhalilRamos.” They were paired last year in the movie “Last Song Syndrome” and we find it a well crafted and endearing musical romance using the songs of Ben&Ben. It’s just too bad that as an entry in the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino, it failed to make waves. So how is it to be a Kapuso?
“It’s quite overwhelming,” he says. “Everyone I’ve met is very welcoming. I feel loved! The amount of support that I’ve been getting is very gratifying. I’m incredibly happy to be a Kapuso. I’m very much excited to be able to collaborate with such talented and skilled people. I can’t wait to meet everyone else.”
Now that he is a certified Kapuso, Khalil looks forward to portraying more challenging roles. “I’d definitely want to take on roles that are acting pieces, like roles in a heavy drama series, or thriller and suspense roles as well. Comedy is also something I’d like to explore and I’d like to work with top Kapuso stars Alden Richards, Dingdong Dantes, Michael V., Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Janine Gutierrez, and Gabbi, of course.”
Khalil sings well, acts well (he’s very good in the indie drama “2 Cool 2 B 4Gotten” as a teener searching for his identity) and also has good breeding and PR compared to other young stars we’ve met. We really wish him to succeed, but sadly, full stardom seems to elude him. Well, who knows? Maybe GMA could succeed in making him a big star, which ABS-CBN failed to do. Here’s praying GMA could really push his career to greater heights.
