JEAN Garcia has just finished a new movie where she plays the lead role, “Watch Me Kill”, co-starring Jay Manalo. “It’s an action-suspense thriller,” she says.”I play a jaded hired killer who finds redemption when I rescue a girl from a man I was hired to kill. For the action scenes, I trained with Club Maga, where Keanu Reeves also trained for ‘John Wick’. It’s directed by T.A. Acierto of ‘Grave Bandits’ and is intended to be shown next year.”
Meantime, she’s so busy with her current GMA soap, “Ika-5 Utos”. “Araw-araw ang taping namin,” she says. “Wala kasi kaming nakaimbak na episodes. Ang calltime namin kung minsan is 1 a.m., and what we taped in the morning, yun ang ipalalabas on the same day in the afternoon. Hand to mouth talaga. Now, we have to double time the taping kasi nga, may Christmas break and aalis pa si Gelli (de Belen) to spend the holidays with her sons in Canada, so halos hindi na kami natutulog. Buti na nga lang, magbabakasyon na rin kami so we can rest.”
Her role as Eloisa is often in conflict with the character of Valerie Concepcion as Clarisse. They’ve had many catfights and looks like they really hurt each other in the process.
“We try our best para hindi kami magkasakitan, so we rehearse what we’ll do before the take. But sometimes, kahit alalay kami, hindi talaga maiiwasang masaktan, so umuuwi kaming may mga pasa. Grabe! So sabi niya, Ayan, ha, Ate, quits na tayo. Walang personalan.”
