JENNYLYN Mercado is very happy over the positive feedback that her new primetime show, “Love You Two”, is getting from the viewers. “Nakakatuwa talaga kasi ang daming nagme-message sa’kin how much they love the show,” she says. “Very light kasi ang treatment and very entertaining ang dating ng story about Raffy, the character I play, whose relationship with Gabby Concepcion as Jake starts on the wrong foot.”
What’s in the character of Raffy that she can relate with? “Unang-una, pareho kaming family-oriented,” she says. “Ako, gagawin ko ang lahat to give my loved ones a comfortable life at ganoon din si Raffy na mahal na mahal ang mga kapatid niyang sina Shaira Diaz and Jerald Napoles. We are both willing to sacrifice our own happiness for the people we care for at pareho rin kaming positive ang attitude sa buhay.”
She seems to prefer to do romcoms like this more than heavy dramas? “People seem to like me more in these vehicles, even sa movies. But it’s really challenging to do a romcom kasi it’s not really that easy to make the viewers laugh. It’s good magaling lahat ng kasama ko sa cast and that makes our job much easier. But si Raffy also has lots of drama in her life, especially after she was dumped by her boyfriend, played by Clint Bondad. So I want the audience to be able to relate also with the pain and heartache that she is going through.”
We heard “Love You Two” is being shot like a movie. “Yes! The equipment we are using, pati 'yung color grading, pampelikula talaga. And our director, Irene Villamor, parang shooting at hindi taping lang ang treatment niya sa material kaya I’m really proud of this show.”
Just like your character Raffy, would you fall for an older man? Age is neither a hindrance nor a category in choosing the ones we love.
Any amusing off-cam anecdote with Gabby? "He shares corny jokes, yet they totally crack me up."
What’s the best and toughest part of being Jennylyn Mercado? "The toughest part is being judged by people who don’t know the real me. The best part is having the support of my loved ones, no matter how crazy show biz gets."
