EXPECT a big crowd sa Music Hall at Metro Walk Ortigas every Wednesday evening. Better still, magpa-reserve agad ng upuan or pumunta nang maaga.
Wednesday night at Music Hall belongs to Katrina Velarde who is a huge fan of Songbird Regine Velasquez.
Her set will not be complete kung hindi siya aawit ng any Regine song. Her finale is usually a medley of her idol’s hits.
Has she met Regine in person?
“Last Nov. 25 po when she performed sa Kia. Nagpakilala po ako at niyakap niya ako. I was speechless at para akong nawala sa sarili. Ganoon pala ang feeling kapag na-meet mo in person ang iniidolo mo. Baka raw mapasyal siya sa Music Hall at magdu-duet kami. Hindi pa man ay super excited na po ako,” she informs.
In 2013, Katrina auditioned for X Factor Philippines. At ang mentor ng grupong kinabilangan niya ay walang iba kundi si Gary Valenciano. The six-piece girl group was called AKA Jam. Bigo ang grupo to bag the money prize in the competition pero nagmarka sa hurado ang galling nila sa pagkanta.
Katrina made headlines when she uploaded a video of herself on Facebook singing while using a purple comb as a fake microphone. It went viral after it was shared by several users online and has almost 15 million views on Facebook alone dubbing Velarde as Miss Suklay diva.
Her uploaded live performance of Michael Bolton's Go the Distance was another viral hit for the Suklay Diva. It has a record breaking 4 million views and counting on You Tube. Now the online sensation is continuing to produce and create more music and even more Suklay covers of her favorite artists to be uploaded on her channel.
One of her biggest projects this year was to interpret Jeanne Columbine Rodriquez's Philpop 2018 entry, 'Tama Na.' The ballad track was able to get into the list of the Top 10 finalists of the country’s premier songwriting competition.
'Tama Na' is available on Spotify iTunes, Apple Music and all digital music stores.
The music video for 'Tama Na' can be viewed on the Viva Records YouTube channel.
