RAMON Christopher came to the contract-signing of his son, Diego Gutierrez, with ace talent manager Leo Dominguez, who’s also handling the careers of his daughter, Janine, and ex-wife, Lotlot de Leon. Monching says he gave his go signal to Diego to join showbiz since he has already finished college with a degree in marketing from the University of Asia & the Pacific.
“Yun naman talaga ang usapan namin, even with Janine, tapusin muna nila ang college then they can do whatever they want,” he says. “Janine graduated from Ateneo then joined showbiz at ganun din ngayon si Diego.”
Lotlot and her new husband were also at the contract signing and they’re obviously in good terms with Monching. How about him, doesn’t he have a new lovelife after he and Lotlot broke up? “Kung minsan meron, kung minsan wala,” he says, laughing.
His daughter Janine is now cozy with Rayver Cruz. Is he okay with Rayver? “Oh yes. Mabait naman siya. When we went to Japan last Christmas, kasama siya ng family namin. At hindi naman ako nakikialam sa lovelife ng mga anak ko, e. I trust them.”
Recently, Janine had a funny episode with her driver who left her behind and went home without her. “Comedy nga ang nangyari, kasi akala ng driver, bumalik na siya sa car, e kinuha lang niya yung phone niyang naiwan niya. When he heard na sumara yung pinto, umandar na. So when Janine returned, she realized naiwan siya and she called me up kasi di niya alam ang number nung driver. Ako naman tumawag sa phone nung driver. Sabi ko, si Janine? Nandito ho sa likod. I said, wala siya diyan, tumingin ka. And noon lang niya na-realize na wala nga pala. Sabi niya, ang alam ko ho kasi pauwi na kami. Sabi ko naman, di balikan mo, naiwan mo, e.”
Janine figured in a slight conflict between Lotlot and his mom, Pilita Corrales, recently when Pilita told Lolit Solis she reprimanded Janine for her remark, “Oh God”, when it was reported that Sen. Bong Revilla is returning to GMA. Lotlot said no such thing happened. Did he try to mediate between the two?
“No. Mahirap yun. Ayokong maipit sa ganyan. My attitude is: refrain. I didn’t even ask them about it. E, ngayon, tahimik na naman sila. Ang feeling ko, in God’s own time, maaayos din naman everything between them.”
He says he’s currently loveless, but how true are the talks that he has actually reconciled with his very first girlfriend, Tina Paner? “Kasi they see us doing several shows for Pagcor. We’re good friends naman. Na-maintain naman namin yung friendship namin through the years.”
How come he’s not visible these days on the big or small screen? “Walang kumukuha sa’kin, e. Okay naman ako kahit magteleserye.”
Who’s his manager? “Tita June Rufino of Viva.”
Someone quips: “Ang daming ginagawang projects ng Viva now, dapat maisama ka niya roon.”
