A rookie policeman was arrested for firing his gun indiscriminately while allegedly threatening bystanders before dawn yesterday in Taguig City.

Police Officer 1 Agustin Cedillo alias “Teng”, assigned at the Makati police station, was detained at the Taguig police detention cell following a complaint of alarm and scandal and grave threat against him.

Southern Police District (SPD) Director Chief Supt. Eliseo Cruz said that on top of criminal charges, Cedillo will also be facing an administrative case before the Internal Affairs Service.

Investigation showed that while complainant Abelardo Garcia of Block 1 Lot 18 Phase 7, Bagong Tanyag was inside his house, he heard successive shots at around 1:40 a.m. prompting him to go outside to check.

Garcia said he saw PO1 Cedillo continuously firing his gun indiscriminately and threatening bystanders, including Ronnel Enore, which prompted him to seek the assistance of Police Community Precinct (PCP) 3.

Elements of PCP-3 immediately responded to the area that resulted in the arrest of PO1 Cedillo.
