Show brings back happy, old memories for Snooky

Snooky Serna and Dina Bonnevie
Anak ni Waray vs. Anak ni Biday

SNOOKY Serna and Dina Bonnevie are happy to be back before the cameras now that the taping for their primetime GMA show, “Anak ni Waray vs. Anak ni Biday” has resumed. The show was interrupted by the pandemic lockdown in March but will now continue its telecast starting this Monday, January 18, at 8 PM.

Snooky plays Amy while Dina plays Susie, but when the story starts, they are still very young and Amy is played by Max Collins while Lovi Poe played Susie. They used to be the best of friends but their friendship was shattered when they found out they’re in love with the same guy, Jay Manalo as Joaquin, and they become mortal enemies for life.

Snooky gives birth to Barbie Forteza as Ginalyn and Dina gives birth to Kate Valdez as Caitlyn. What happened with the mothers will be repeated with their daughters. Barbie and Kate become good friends but their friendship is also ruined by one man, Migo Adecer as the hunky Cocoy.

Snooky says she’s very happy to be part of this show as it brings back pleasant memories of the time she did the original “Anak ni Waray vs. Anak ni Biday” with Maricel Soriano for Regal Films in the 1980s. Their mothers then were played by Nida Blanca and Gloria Romero.

“It’s one of our biggest hits and also one of the most entertaining movies we did in our younger days,” she says. “So I’m really happy to be a part now of its remake on TV. Maricel is not available but I’m always delighted working with Dina na nakasama rin namin ni Maria noon in ‘Underage’, another big hit. It’s always a joy working with her.”

As for Barbie and Kate, they are both elated to be working with experienced actresses like Snooky and Dina. “We learn so much from them by just interacting with them, on and off camera,” says Barbie. “They have a wealth of experience not only in acting but about life itself, kaya napakasarap makipagkuwentuhan sa kanila sa set.”

“What’s nice is that they’re both generous in sharing their life experiences to us who are just beginners in the industry,” adds Kate. “Just watching them, matututo ka na about acting. We’re all glad to see each other again ngayong nag-resume na ang aming show. Huwag nyo kaligtaang panoorin sa Monday ang recap, then later, the fresh new episodes we did sa lock in taping dahil magugulat kayo sa mga pasabog na eksenang ginawa namin.”
