THEA Tolentino is happy to be back doing a soap after her unforgettable portrayal of a feisty transwoman in “Asawa Ko, Karibal Ko”. She now plays the wife of Juancho Trivino who dumps him and their two kids in GMA-7’s new afternoon drama, “Madrasta”. For her role here, she changed the color of her hair.
“It’s the production staff who suggested na baguhin ang ayos ng buhok ko,” she says. “So I had it cut short at sabi ko, ipa-blond ko kaya for a change. Tutal, di ko pa 'yun nagagawa in a soap. They agreed naman, kaya ayan blondie ako ngayon. Ever since ‘The Half Sisters’ naman, kunsaan naka-bangs ako, talagang binabagu-bago ko ang hairstyle ko at hitsura ko sa bawat bagong show na ginagawa ko, para maiba naman.”
She attended the presscon for New York acting coach Anthony Bova in her blond hair and she was a stand out during their group pictorial. “I’m really thankful to GMA kasi nabigyan ako agad ng bagong project. Hindi ako matagal nabakante. Tamang-tama nga kasi magagamit ko rito lahat ng natutuhan ko sa workshop ni Anthony Bova, which really helps us a lot. Reading-ready na akong paglaruan ang character ko bilang asawa ni Juancho na naging tinik sa buhay nila ng madrastang si Arra San Agustin.”
A while ago, she admitted having reconciled with boyfriend Mikoy Morales. But recently, some folks concluded that they must have broken up again as they were not together at the premiere night of “Family History”. How true is this rumor?
“Not true at all. Kami pa rin. Sabay kaming dumating sa SM Megamall noong ‘Family History’. But it’s true, hindi kami magkatabi ng upuan and I was sitting behind him. E, kasi, member siya ng cast bilang friend ni Miguel Tanfelix in the movie. So siyempre, doon siya uupo sa seat meant for the cast members. Alangan namang makisali ako roon, e wala naman ako sa movie.”
