PIOLO Pascual and director Joyce Bernal are both Duterte diehards. They went to Sagada to shoot for beautiful scenery to be used as background views in their idol’s coming State of the Nation Address or SONA. Of course, they were refused entry as Sagada is currently safe from the virus and they might be carriers who’d transport the dreaded corona covid there.
We cannot blame Papa P if he wants to support this government. After all, they want to rename the airport as Pandaigdig na Paliparan ng Pilipinas or Papa Pi for short, to honor him. Hahahaha!
Seriously, he’s now being bashed for what he and Direk Joyce (who has directed the SONA before) tried to do for their LODI. As someone said on Twitter: “Why endanger the health of many people? Piolo could have been more responsible and stayed home.”
The Sagada Rural Health Unit confirmed the story. Someone from Malacanang reportedly called the Sagada mayor if they could shoot there for the SONA but the request was denied. But when Malacanang called, it turned out that Piolo and company were already on their way to Sagada. When Piolo and company got there, they were received at the Sagada Emergency Operations Center but it was only Direk Joyce who faced them and she was not even wearing a face mask. They were told to leave.
Sagada Vice Mayor Felicito Dula wrote: "In these difficult times and in lieu of the foregoing safety reasons, we regret to inform you that entry of the team of direk Joyce Bernal is being disallowed. We hope for your understanding. Together let us fight against this virus and together, let us heal as one. The strict implementation on the entry of all persons coming outside Mountain Province to Sagada has been effective in maintaining the municipality as a COVID-19-free community.”
After this, they went to Banaue and tried to shoot there but they were also not allowed. Will this act of indiscretion affect Papa P’s popularity and standing in local showbiz? Well, he’s not really active anymore as an actor but more as a producer, so that will be difficult to gauge.
