JASMINE Curtis is one of our busiest young actresses today. She is in the cast of three new movies, two of which will be shown on the first week of November and one in December. And she’s also taping for the new GMA-7 series based on a popular Koreanovela, “Descendants of the Sun”. Does she still get to sleep?
“Oo naman,” she says at the presscon of her movie with Ruru Madrid, APT-Cignal Entertainment’s “Cara X Jagger”, to open in theaters on November 6. Aside from “Cara X Jagger”, she’s also in Cinema One’s horror flick, “O” with Lauren Young that opens on November 7. She is also in “Culion”, an entry in the December Metro Manila Filmfest with Iza Calzado. “We all know na ang trabaho naming mga artista, seasonal, so when offers come, better grab them kasi later on, you might regret na bakit ba hindi ko ginawa 'yun? But siyempre, importante pa rin na you find time to rest, so hindi ka ma-stress out. Ako naman, four to five hours of sleep lang a day, okay na ako.”
How is it working with Ruru Madrid in “Cara X Jagger”?
“It’s our first time to work together and one thing I discovered about him is magaling siyang makisama sa lahat ng tao sa set,” she replies. “Mahilig siyang makipagkulitan, but he takes his work very seriously. He really wants to be involved in the process of shooting his scenes and he asks our director, Ice Idanan, for specific instructions on what’s he’s supposed to do. It’s good our director is very collaborative and always coordinates with us.”
In the story by Acy Ramos, Jasmine plays Cara and Ruru plays Jagger. They used to be sweethearts but a horrible accident happened to Ruru while he’s on motorcycle that causes him to lose his memory. He is now trying his best to remember his life before the accident while Jasmine is trying her best to forget a painful event that ruined her former relationship with Ruru who’s afflicted with hypethymesia, a condition that also afflicted Jerome Ponce in the recent movie, “Finding You”.
“‘Cara X Jagger' is a very different and unique love story,” says Jasmine. “It’s about loving someone unconditionally and moving on no matter how painful your relationship has become. We have worked so hard to make it an unforgettable love story and we’re so excited to show it to everyone.”
Jasmine and Ruru cannot be romantically linked off cam because Jasmine has been on with non-showbiz guy Jeffrey Ortega for sometime now while Ruru is said to be canoodling with Bianca Umali, but they have yet admit it.
