BOTH Tommy Esguerra and Liza Lorena became emotional at one point during the presscon of “Three Words to Forever”. Tommy is so thankful that he became a part of such a big family movie. He took the audition to be Kathryn Bernardo’s leading man and didn’t expect that he’d be the one to be selected.

“Everyone was so nice to me,” he says. “Tito Richard Gomez is so accommodating. We shot in Ormoc City where he’s the mayor and I’m really amazed at how hardworking he is. He’d shoot with us and, later, he’d be performing his duties as a mayor. Tita Sharon Cuneta is so sweet and mabait, one of the kindest people I ever met. She treated me like a real son throughout the whole shoot. At first, I was shy, very nervous because I’m not sure if I could meet their standards since they’re all great actors. I’m not even even sure if I’d fit in but they were all very helpful, patient and understanding with me.”

It was at this point that his voice cracked and he started tearing up. He was obviously so touched by all the goodness he experienced from his co-stars while they were making the film. Sharon Cuneta stood up and approached him to comfort him. They hugged each other and Tommy was able to contain himself after that. “He’s such a good guy and a natural actor,” Sharon adds.

It’s Liza Lorena’s turn to praise him. “He’s such a gentleman. Very sweet. Lagi akong inaalalayan.”

Then it’s Richard: “For a newcomer, you can see his willingness to learn and his dedication to improve his craft. Malayo ang mararating niya.”

His role as Kathryn’s boyfriend from New York will definitely be a big boost to his career. How is it working with her? “She’s such an amazing actress. Working with her as her leading man, I realized I’m so blessed to be working with her and the rest of the cast. This is my biggest break and I’m so grateful.”

He has really left behind his ex-PBB girlfriend Miho Nishida. As for Liza Lorena, she cried when she revealed that her mom just died and was quickly followed by her sister after only a few months. Doing the movie is a good therapy for her to console her while she’s grieving.

“Naaliw ako while we were shooting in Ormoc, lalo na sa mga pagpapatawa ni Joross Gamboa,” she said. “I’m also happy that Sharon and I are reunited here as mother and daughter. When she did her first movie, ‘Dear Heart’, in 1980, I was also the one who played her and she’ll always have a very special place in my heart.”

In “Three Words to Forever”, Liza plays the wife of Freddie Webb and they’ve been married for 55 years in the story. But in real life, Liza has never been married.

“I’ve had my share of loves, but I am very happy as I am now,” she adds. “I’m happy to be alone but with my kids and my grandchildren.”
