NOW, wearing face masks is no longer mandatory when in the NAIA terminals or its vicinity.
An advisory from the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said that the use of face masks in NAIA is now ‘optional’ or voluntary and is no longer required.
MIAA general manager Cesar Chiong said that the policy is pursuant to an Executive Order issued by President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., EO No. 7, which allows the voluntary use of face masks in indoor and outdoor settings.
“The wearing of face masks at the Naia terminals is now optional in accordance with Executive Order No. 7 (s. 2022),” the MIAA said in its advisory.
However, Chiong was quick to add that the wearing of face masks is still required when inside the aircraft and airside passenger vehicles.
Before this, the Department of Tourism also lifted the mandatory wearing of face masks and the presentation of vaccination cards as a requirement in tourism establishments.
