THE celebration of the Feast of Sto. Niño in Tondo and Pandacan, Manila was generally peaceful and orderly, with devotees strictly observing minimum health protocols.

This was the report gathered by the Manila Police District (MPD) from its men on the ground.

The MPD added that the only activity allowed outside of residence was the holding of Masses. Devotees also followed the protocols on physical distancing, searing of face masks and shields and the filling out of contact tracing forms.

The MPD said that with the 3,000 capacity in the vicinity of the Santo Niño de Tondo Parish, only 300 were allowed inside while at the Santo Niño de Pandacan Parish, only 150 were allowed inside the Church from its capacity of 300 persons.

No untoward incident was reported as of press time.

Earlier, Mayor Isko Moreno issued an executive order banning all traditional street activities like parties, processions, games and the like. He also ordered a liquor ban and the strict enforcement of the curfew hours.

In issuing the order, Moreno said the city government aims to avoid a possible community transmission of the coronavirus and would not want the sacrifices taken by everyone for the past ten months to go to waste.
