“TUNAY na gawa ang alay namin sa mga Manileño at hindi lang basta laway na hindi naman naisasanla.”
Thus stressed Asenso Manileño Party President Honey Lacuna, as she accompanied incumbent Congressmen Joel Chua (3rd district) and Benny Abante (6th district), two of the feistiest pillars of the ruling local party, in filing their certificates of candidacy (COCs) before the Comelec, both as reelectionists.
Chua thanked the mayor for her personal support, along with the candidates for third district Councilor who also accompanied him, namely Pamela ‘Fa’ Fugoso, Maile Atienza, Atty. Jong Isip and first-time candidates for Councilor Jeff Lau and Karen Alibarbar. Lau is president of the Manila Chinatown Barangay Organization (MCBO) while Alibarbar is replacing her husband Terrence, who is an incumbent.
Chua expressed pride to be running under the Asenso Manileño party and specially with Lacuna as their mayoral candidate, saying she is the most decent choice to run the city’s affairs.
“Kapag tinimbang ang aming hanay kumpara sa tiket ng iba, liyamado sa husay at malasakit ang Asenso Manileño mula Punong Lungsod hanggang sa mga pambato sa Konseho,” Chua, who chairs the House Committee on Good Government that probes government corruption, stated.

Abante, who chairs the House Committee on Human Rights, on the other hand emphasized the credibility of their slate.
“At the top of our ticket is the compassionate and competent tandem of Mayor Honey Lacuna and Vice Mayor Yul Servo. We have five incumbent congressmen who are chairpersons of House committees and a former lawmaker who used to chair the Committee on Metro Manila Development. Our city councilors are competent local leaders who have served the capital city well,” Abante stated with pride.
Abante, who is a vital part of the congressional Quad Committee tackling issues like POGOs and extra-judicial killings, added: “the entire slate is of high quality and proven track record, not mere media appeal.”
The other incumbent Congressmen running under the Lacuna-Servo tandem are Congressman Rolan Valeriano (2nd district) and Congressman Irwin Tieng (5th district).
Rep. Edward Maceda, who is also an incumbent, is being replaced by his wife, Dr. Giselle Maceda, who will be running in his stead also under the ticket of Lacuna and Servo.
The ticket’s bet for first district Congressman, meanwhile, is comebacking Congressman Manny Lopez, son of former Mayor Mel Lopez.
