Female sextortionist arrested by cybercops

A 33-YEAR–OLD woman accused of ‘sextortion’ was arrested by agents of the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group in an entrapment operation in Quezon City last Monday afternoon, PNP-ACG director, Brigadier General Dennis P. Agustin reported yesterday.

Suspect Jacquilene Cepeda, a resident of Batasan Hills, Q.C. was placed under arrest after she claimed the P1,000 sent to her by the complainant in a remittance center in Barangay 2-A Filinvest, Road 1, Batasan Hills.

Agustin said they learned from the complainant that the suspect threatened to upload her sensitive photos and videos in Facebook if she won’t heed her monetary demand.

The official said that using the victim’s phone which contained her nude photos and videos, , the suspect first blackmailed the complainant into paying her P10,000 last July 9.

The suspect then asked the complainant to produce another P50,000 in exchange for the release of her phone. Unknown to Cepeda, the victim had sought the help of the PNP-ACG in arresting her.

The suspect who is now being held at the PNP-ACG headquarters in Camp Crame will be facing charges for robbery-extortion and violation of Republic Act 9995 or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009.
