Fil-Am spiker returns to F2

Kalei Mau
F2 Logistics Kalei Mau is ready to fly in the PVL.

KALEI Mau, the hard-spiking Fil-Am from Hawaii, will be back for another stint with powerhouse F2 Logistics in the Premier Volleyball League.

The Cargo Movers will be one of the fancied teams in the now-pro league, as Mau’s presence will give holdovers Aby Maraño, Ara Galang, Majoy Baron, Kianna Dy, Kim Fajardo and libero Dawn Macandili a huge boost for the multi-titled club.

Hi to all my Philippines volleyball fans! Many of you are wondering if I will return to PH to play in the upcoming conference with @F2CargoMovers in the @PVLph The answer is YES! I’m preparing for my return at the end of this month. Enjoying my last weeks in my beautiful Hawaii,” Mau posted through her Twitter account yesterday.

The 26-year old Mau, who represented the Philippines in one of the ASEAN Grand Prix legs in 2019, first played in United VC in 2018 before moving to the Cargo Movers the following year.

F2 Logistics is one of the five new PVL teams along with PLDT Home Fibr, Cignal HD, Sta. Lucia and Chery Tiggo.

The PVL is plotting to start the Open Conference in a tightly controlled bubble in May.

Meanwhile, PVL president Ricky Palou said that 2021 will be the final season that will see the clubs recruit via direct hire.

Starting next year, 2022, we will adopt a drafting system so that the weaker teams will have a chance to improve their lineups,” said Palou during last Tuesday’s virtual Philippine Sportswriters Association.

Proposals for a salary cap is also what the PVL is looking forward in the future.

We still haven’t decided what this salary cap will be, and I am going to sit down with the teams and ask them. We will discuss this to see what’s a reasonable salary cap for the PVL to follow,” said Palou
