MANILA Mayor Honey Lacuna and Vice Mayor Yul Servo reiterated calls for residents to be cautious of things that cause fire after two fire incidents recently hit two areas in the city one after the other.
Lacuna and Servo on Wednesday distributed food and financial assistance to the victims of fire that hit San Andres, Manila.
On the following day, they will also be handing out cash assistance to fire victims from Sta. Ana.
It was learned from Manila social welfare department chief Re Fugoso that the preparation for the Sta. Ana fire victims’ cash assistance took more time because it involved a huge number of families, numbering about 300 in all.
In each fire incident, Lacuna said the city government provides an assistance of P10,000 per family.
The amount, she said, may not be huge but it is their small way of making the affected residents know that the city government is there to help them start anew.
