As the government prepares to roll out the coronavirus disease 2019 vaccine program this year, Mecotec GmbH and Deutsche Motorgeräte Inc. offers a unique cold storage solution in the country which would be available in the first quarter of this year.
Mecotec’s MCF8 is a mobile and hybrid container with deep cooling technology to freeze contents from -20°C to -80°C, meeting the handling requirements for various Covid-19 vaccines.
“Vaccine manufacturers, governments, hospitals, and local communities are facing significant challenges in transporting, storing, and distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine options due to the requirement of maintaining a constant temperature from -20℃ down to -80℃ in order to retain their effectiveness. Currently, very few options are available to handle the distribution requirements of these vaccines,” Mecotec chief executive officer Enrico Klauer said.
A 20-foot MFC8 can store up to 500,000 doses of vaccines, while the 40-foot container can store up to 1 million doses.
The German cooling technology provider has partnered with DMI to be the distributor of MFC8 here.
DMI is a sales and distribution firm of high- quality German tools and products used for disaster prevention and relief, medical, and agricultural sectors.
“The local distribution of these vaccines requires a thorough understanding of our geographical complexities. To address the lengthy logistical lead time often associated with transporting goods within our borders, we need a solution that would allow these vaccines to be stored and transported at the required temperature for a longer period of time,” DMI president Jess Co said.
Co added the mobile container can address the concerns on delivering the vaccines up to the remote areas in the country.
