Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Erwin Garcia on Tuesday said that over 880,000 applications were received by the poll body during the first day of the voter registration for the 2025 Barangay Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

Data from Comelec showed that as of August 4, a total of 881,772 individuals already registered. Of the number, majority registered at the Region III (Central Luzon) at 208,398, followed by Region IV-A (Calabarzon) with 102,235; National Capital Region, 64,131 and Region I (Ilocos Region), with 52,372.

Garcia said the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) had the lowest applications received at only 12,987 while 6,048 applications were received by the Comelec at its Special Registration Anywhere Program (SRAP) sites.

According to Garcia, the said voter registration is the most successful in the country’s history, having posted the biggest number of registrants in so short a time.

The said registration was begun on August 1 and ends on August 10.

To ensure that more will register, the Comelec also held special voter registration in SRAP sites up to August 7.

The Comelec said it targets at least a million voters in the said voter registration.
