FIVB welcomes PNVFI

ENTER the Philippine National Volleyball Federation, Inc. (PNVFI).

The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), the world’s governing body in volleyball, formally accepted the PNVFI as its newest member representing the Philippines.

A total of 155 national federations from all over the world approved unanimously the FIVB’s recognition of the PNVFI during the third and last day of the online world congress late Sunday.

Out of 190 votes, only three federations were not in favor of the PNVFI.

Another 13 federations abstained and 20 others said they did not receive the question.

The FIVB sought the votes of its members on the PNVFI’s elections supervised by the Philippine Olympic Committee last Jan. 25.

On the question, “Do you recognize the elections of the PNVFI last January 25?”a total of 151 federations said yes.

Five said no, 16 abstained and 18 said they did not receive the question.

The FIVB also asked the members if they agree on the expulsion of the Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF).

The question received 138 yes votes against only 16 no votes.

A total of 15 members abstained and 22 others said they did not receive the question.

PNVFI president Ramon “Tats” Suzara and PNVFI Board welcomed the FIVB’s overwhelming support during the 37th Congress.

Suzara also thanked FIVB President Dr. Ary Graça and AVC President Rita Subowo for their inspiring quality of leadership.

He also thanked the POC, headed by President Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, who called the election in response to the FIVB’s request.
