THE reelection bid of Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna got another boost after the ranking officials and Councilor-grandson of the late Mayor Alfredo S. Lim announced support for the lady mayor, saying she deserves another term and is the best candidate who can lead the capital city in the next six years.
Ric de Guzman, who served as chief of staff, public information officer and the closest confidante of then Mayor Lim, expressed belief in the integrity of Lacuna and cited her service record which is untained by corruption, adding that true-blue Lim supporters share the same belief.
This was echoed by former City Administrator Jay Marzan, who said that what Manila needs is a decent and intelligent mayor who will not further bury the city in debt.
“Si Mayora, diretso sa tao ‘yung tulong. ‘Yung program niya, naka-focus para mas umasenso ang buhay ng bawat Manilenyo,” Marzan stressed, said.
Marzan, who also hails from Sampaloc, said that when his brother Bong, a barangay chairman, decided to seek election as Councilor, they both agreed that he should run under the slate of Lacuna, being the best among the candidates when it comes to character and leadership style.
De Guzman, a bonafide resident of Manila, particularly Sampaloc, said he is very well aware of the kind of governance that the residents, like him, enjoy under the Lacuna administration.
As a senior citizen himself, De Guzman said that Lacuna showed her deep concern for the elderly residents by doubling their monthly allowance and visiting those who are sick and bedridden to personally check on them and give them assistance in various forms.
As a doctor, Lacuna leads the city best, as she prioritizes health care and was the reason why Manila was able to address the pandemic well, he added.
Also under the Lacuna stewardship, De Guzman said many officials who served under Lim were given back their positions and now serve in her administration, showing her trust in the choices of department heads that Lim has made.
He also noted that even Councilor Nino dela Cruz, Lim’s grandson, chose to stay by Lacuna’s side for the same reasons he has for supporting the lady mayor.
Both De Guzman and Marzan note that just like Lim, the lady mayor is very careful when it comes to city funds, making sure that they are not mishandled in any way.
For his part, Dela Cruz, who is seeking reelection as first district Councilor under the slate of Lacuna, stated :”Pinili ko po si Mayor Honey kasi mabuti po ang asal niya, malinis ang hangarin para tumulong. Tapat at totoo talaga siya.”
