Mayor Honey Lacuna announced that the Manila city government is offering free operation for those with cleft lip and cleft palate problems.

Lacuna directed those who may be interested to get in touch with Sta. Ana Hospital under Director Dr. Grace Padilla, who said that while the free offer is for everyone needing it, the priority would be children.

The mayor said that no requirements will be asked from those who will avail of the free operation, aside from being Manila residents and a birth certificate.

If the allotment allows, Padilla said that even non-Manilans may be accomodated.

According to Padilla, those interested may register with the hospital, saying the free operation will be on a first come, first served basis.

A total of 100 slots have been allocated for the purpose and the operation will be conducted in April 2023.

Padilla said the operations will be done under the SAH program, “Zero Cleft Manila,” which aims to provide free repair of cleft lips and palates, specially among kids.

She said that even newborn babies can be registered for the said program.

It was learned that cleft lip or palate operations in private institutions cost up to P50,000.
