Frustrated murder suspect arrested after 11 years

A FRUSTRATED murder suspect who had been hiding for 11 years was arrested Friday evening in Navotas city.

Navotas police chief P/Col. Rolando Balasabas said elements of the Warrant and Subpoena Section (WSS) received a tip from a concerned citizen that Josefino Tamayo, Jr., 47, who was charged for frustrated murder and was tagged as No. 9 Most Wanted Person was frequently seen at night in Bgy. Tangos South where his family were residing.

After several weeks of intensive and surveillance operation, operatives of WSS led by P/SMSgt. Normito Tapon, chanced upon the accused while visiting his family on 302 S. Roldan St., Brgy. Tangos South prompting them to serve the warrant of arrest for the crime of frustrated murder issued against Tamayo by Navotas Regional Trial Court (RTC) Romana Lindayag Del Rosario of Branch 287.

Court records showed that on May 23, 2009, Tamayo stabbed a certain Edgar Sevilla in the back for no apparent reason then fled.

Sevilla miraculously survived the attack.

Tamayo went into hiding until Navotas city policemen under the supervision of Col. Balasabas nabbed him at his house in Brgy. Tangos.

The accused is temporarily detained at the Navotas police station pending the issuance of a commitment order from the court.
