GAB, MPD conduct illegal gambling raid

GABTHE Games and Amusements Board (GAB), headed by Chairman Abraham “Baham” Mitra, will continue its all-out campaign against illegal gambling.

Last Nov. 8, GAB and the Manila Police District-District Police Intelligence and Operations Unit swooped down on alleged illegal horseracing bookies and arrested three persons for violation of PD 1602.

MPD operatives, led by PCPT Jervies Soriano, Chief DPIOU, under the supervision of PLTCOL Levi Hope Basilio, and GAB personnel, led by team leader Glenn Pe, conducted the joint anti-gambling operations.

Arrested were one female bookies personnel and two male bettors at the illegal bookies located at Kalimbas St., Sta. Cruz, Manila.

Recovered during the operations were receiving bets and different gambling paraphernalias used in illegal horseracing bookies, such as one LCD monitor, racing program (dividendazo), and cash money amounting to P937.00.

GAB, which was created in 1951, was tasked to help combat illegal gambling activities in the country.
