Geoff told by mom Gina to stop having more kids

GEOFF Eigenmann started with ABS-CBN, then moved to GMA-7, then returned to ABS-CBN, but as of now, he is with Eagle Broadcasting’s Net25 playing the male lead in their first romantic drama series, “Ang Daigdig Ko’y Ikaw”.

“Ganun naman, e,” he says. “You go kunsaan may trabaho. I can’t stay idle, lalo na ngayon, my family is growing and I now have three kids.”

His partner is singer Maya Flores and their three children are Beanie, 3 years old; Angus, who’s 1, and a newborn, Pepper, who was just born October 31.

“I’d like to have more kids sana. Kung puede, twins. But the doctor said it’s best magpa-ligate na si Maya kasi our three kids, puro by caesarian section, not normal delivery, so delikado, kasi magkakalapit sila.”

His mom, respected actress Gina Alajar, also advised him not to have a very big family. “She said okay na ‘yung tatlo kasi it’s hard to raise kids sa panahon ngayon. Anyway, we already have two girls and one boy. So our next project is to have a formal wedding. But dahil may pandemic pa, it would have to wait. We want something simple lang, not a big wedding.”

As of now, he’s just thankful that Net25 got him for “Ang Daigdig Ko’y Ikaw”. “I feel so blessed kasi ‘yung iba, walang work, but ako, nakuha rito to play the role of a seaman who’d be the love interest of Ynna Asistio. Buti naman nagtiwala sila sa akin at ang direktor naming si Eduardo Roy.’’

How is it working with Ynna Asistio? “Nagkikita kami noon sa GMA, but this is really the first time we get to act together. Lock in taping kami kaya madali kaming naging comfortable with each other. She’s good. Puro take one nga ang mga eksena namin, e, kaya mabilis natatapos ang trabaho sa isang araw.”

How about Direk Edong Roy? “First time ko rin to work with him. He’s very young but he surely knows what he’s doing. Magkakasundo kaming lahat sa taping, along with the other stars like Elizabeth Oropesa who plays our town mayor, Tanya Gomez, AJ Muhlach, and the rest. We’re just praying na magustuhan ito ng viewers para ma-extend kami. Kasi, as of now, one season lang ito, 13 weeks, so sana mag-click para mas humaba.”

Angel used and abused?

Angel Locsin
Angel Locsin

ANGEL Locsin doesn’t have a new big movie or teleserye, but a weekly public service show, “Iba Yan”. Despite this, though, she’s always in the news as she’s a favorite target of Duterte supporters. Whenever she expresses anything about the country’s current deplorable situations, Dutertards are always quick to bash her. A few days ago, her social media account got many Cagayan Needs Helps hashtags and she asked help for the flood victims there. A Dutertard quickly told her: “Kawawa rin ‘yung mga kabataang nasa bundok na na-recruit ng NPA”, another clear case of red-tagging to make Angel appear like a communist.

A module from the Dept. of Education that went viral recently used her as an example to illustrate obesity, saying: “Angel Locsin is an obese person. She, together with Coco Martin eats fatty and sweet food in a fast food restaurant most of the time. In her house, she’s always watching television and does not have any physical activities.”

An executive from the DepEd Division in Occidental Mindoro clarified that the module is not from their Central Office but only from a physical education teacher for a grade 10 class. They apologized to Angel and said they will not tolerate nor condone any act of body shaming.

This is the response of Angel: “I don’t mind the insults. Cheap comments do not define who I am. I intended to ignore this issue, but when I read DepEd’s statement, aba teka lang. What bothers me most is apart from teaching incorrect grammar to the students, DepEd seems unaffected that the said teacher is teaching bad conduct and sowing discrimination among the children.

“Anong mangyayari sa future kung ang mga kabataan ay tinuturuan ng pambabastos at pangungutya sa kapwa? This is the more relevant issue, Deped, that you should be held accountable and must correct. Sa inyo nakasalalay ang pag asa ng ating milyon-milyong kabataan.

“The said teacher should apologize to his students and all the students that read the module. I am fortunate that I had teachers who value good manners and right conduct. Every child deserves to have teachers like them.”

Most recently, Angel met personally with the military officer who’s been red-tagging her and her sister Ella. Her lawyer, Atty. Joji V. Alonso, posted a photo of their meeting with the officer and wrote: “In a meeting held today between AFP Southern Luzon Command Chief Lt. General Antonio Parlade, Jr. and actress Angel Locsin, the issues that cropped up these past weeks including the allegations against her and her sister Angela “Ella” Colmenares, were discussed, threshed out and cleared.

“Miss Locsin expressly denounces violence and terrorism in any form and supports all efforts of the government to maintain the safety and protection of all citizens.

“For his part, Lt. General Parlade conveyed to Ms. Locsin his appreciation for her contribution to the AFP and her continuing advocacy to help the poor, impoverished and the helpless.”
