German diplomat held for violating social distancing

NINE foreign nationals, including a German diplomat, were among the 34 people rounded up by authorities after they were found violating social distancing and extended curfew hour protocols inside a bar Friday evening in Makati City.

Makati police chief P/Col. Oscar Jacildo identified the foreign nationals as Chanhsavan Lexus Keoninh, 28, tourist US national, Yongrack Choi, 39, Korean, Akhgul Rakhat, 26, Kazakhstan, Donghyun Kim, 38, Korean, Melchert Christian, 38, Speer Robert, 32, Christoph Weber, all Deutsch nationals, Ryounseok Oh, 37, Korean national and George Maue, German diplomat.

The operation, according to Col. Jacildo, was conducted at around 10 p.m. by elements of the Makati Police Sub-Station 6 led by P/Capt. Judge Rowe Donato at the Kartel Rooftop Bar located at the 4th floor of the building on 5921 Algier Street, Bgy. Poblacion following the conduct of an anti-criminality campaign and implementation of city ordinance in relation to the existing General Community Quarantine.

Authorities caught the 34 customers of the bar violating social distancing rules while engaged in a drinking session prompting the lawmen to bring the foreigners to the Makati Police Station Investigation and Detective Management Section (SIDMS) for documentation.

Jacildo said the violators were allowed to go home at around 1 a.m. Saturday after they received their Ordinance Violation Receipt (OVR).
