MAYOR Emi Calixto-Rubiano has ordered the full disinfection of Pasay City Hall after she tested positive for COVID-19 which she apparently contracted from a city government employee.
This, as Mayor Emi said, that she will continue to serve the people even while on quarantine.
Shortly after going into quarantine, messages of prayers and well wishes flooded the city hall’s official social media page under the Public Information Office (PIO) as well as Mayor Emi’s personal online accounts.
Among those who sent their messages was Foreign Affairs Secretary Teddy Boy Locsin who reached out to her through his Twitter and wished her safe recovery.
Senator Bong Go also sent his well-wishing message and told Mayor Emi in his text messages to get well soon even as he also informed her that he was praying for her.
Other members of the Senate and the House of Representatives as well as mayors from the National Capital Region and other LGUs, and other national and local political leaders like MMDA Chairman Benhur Abalos, have sent messages of support to Mayor Emi.
Thousands of others, especially ordinary residents of Pasay, also extended messages of support to Mayor Emi, many of which were praying for her speedy recovery.
Mayor Emi, for her part, was thankful for the messages of support even as she assured that all the necessary precautions and comprehensive contact tracing were conducted to ensure that the virus will be stopped from its tracks.
“Ako po ngayon ay nag-isolate at isinasagawa na rin ang COVID protocols ng lungsod on contact tracing at sa aking mga nakasalamuha para maiwasan ang tuluyang pagkalat nito. We have to make sure of the safety of everybody.” Mayor Emi said as she gave a‘no interruption of service’ directive to all the LGU’s personnel.
“Tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang tapat na serbisyo ng ating lungsod, inatasan ko na ang lahat ng departamento na huwag pabayaan ang ating mga kababayan. Inutusan ko na rin ang ating mga opisyal at kawani sa city hall na ituloy pa rin ang mga programa ng gobyerno kahit sa aking kalagayan.” she stressed.
Mayor Emi also used her condition to promote and highlight the importance of having everyone vaccinated, even as she doubled down on her appeal to her constituents to fully cooperate with the planned citywide immunization program against the virus.
