An 11-year-old girl died of drowning when she went swimming in an estuary or ‘estero in Tondo, Manila on Wednesday morning.
The victim, said to be a resident of Navotas City, was already lifeless when taken out by rescuers.
An investigation by the Manila Police District (MPD)- Homicide Section said that the incident took place at around 11 a.m. on Estero de Muralla 2 Bridge in Tondo.
The victim’s parents told the police that the girl went swimming with her friends without their knowledge and drowned because she did not know how to swim.
The girl’s body was recovered at already 3 p.m.
