#DoItRight: Globe intensifies crackdown against illegal resellers of Globe At Home modems

Globe continues to ramp up its operations together with the Philippine National Police against the illegal reselling of rebranded Globe At Home modems.

Results of a recent entrapment operation in Pala-pala, Dasmariñas City, Cavite led to the arrest of 26-year old Laguna resident, Roel Joseph de Leon on June 28, 2021. Police officers, accompanied by Globe’s Security Team, brought de Leon to the Criminal Investigation & Detection Group – Regional Field Unit at Camp Vicente Lim, Calamba, Laguna and was charged with the violation of RA 8484, or the Access Devices Regulation Act of 1998.

Based on the police report, three (3) units of Globe At Home Tozed S10G modems were seized from de Leon, all bearing DITO branding and packaged with DITO SIM cards.

De Leon had admitted to purchasing the Globe At Home modems online and using stickers from DITO’s SIM card packaging, attaching it to the modems to make it appear as a product from the operator. During the interrogation, he had also admitted to manipulating the modem’s system to make it open-line. Using the alias “Sephjo Olasap” on Facebook, he has been caught offering the rebranded Globe At Home modems on his Facebook account.

Globe is currently the only authorized distributor of these Tozed S10G modems in the Philippines. The telco is taking the necessary steps in ensuring that its customers are well-protected from illegal activities concerning its products and devices.

Globe calls on its customers to report suspicious activities surrounding Globe At Home’s modems and escalate these accordingly to the appropriate authorities:

  • Department of Trade and Industry—Consumer Protection Group with the email address [email protected] or text 09178343330.

Globe reminds its customers to buy only from legitimate Globe Stores nationwide. Customers may also buy online at Globe’s official Shopee and Lazada stores and its authorized dealers to ensure the devices’ quality and service guarantees.
