Go: Gov’t to use WB loan prudently to get vaccines

Bong GoCONFIRMING that the World Bank approved a $500-million (PhP24.2-billion) loan to support the government’s efforts in procuring COVID-19 vaccines, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go assured the government will use said funds for their intended purpose prudently and properly.

During an ambush interview right after he personally assisted 1,500 victims of Typhoon Ulysses in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, Go said the government is stringently complying with guidelines to ensure that the borrowed money from the WB will be spent properly.

Citing the possibility of new pandemics emerging in the future, Go previously mentioned that it is high time for the country to strengthen further its medical science and health research capabilities to prepare for other health crises and eventually develop its own vaccines and other medical interventions.

Go also assured that the government is accelerating its vaccine rollout to ensure that no Filipino is left behind towards recovery.

The senator also noted that media workers must also be considered as frontliners given the crucial role they play in this fight against COVID-19, without prejudice to already identified priority groups.
