Amid current news regarding ‘guarantee letter,’ the office of Manila Congressman Joel Chua (3rd district) proved negative allegations about it wrong.
It was learned that patients who go to Chua’s office for help via guarantee letter receive much-needed medical assistance without hitches. A guarantee letter is a letter that is given by a politician to a patient for him to be able to get from hospitals his needed medical help under the special assistance program.
Third district resident Elizabeth Boquiron, who had been suffering chronic chest pain for so long, said that she had neglected her own health since she had been taking care of her sickly husband and that this had been her priority.
When she underwent an angiogram through the assistance of the office of Congressman Chua, it was discovered that she had three blocked arteries in the heart and needed to undergo a bypass surgery at the Heart Center.
Through a guarantee letter issued by Rep. Chua, Baquiron said she was immediately admitted to and operated on at the Heart Center.
She said that from check-up, treatment up to recovery stage, Congressman Chua was there to help.
Similarly, street vendor Reymar Reyes also faced the challenges posed by his chronic kidney disease.
According to Reymar, the income derived by his daily vending is never enough to sustain his daily needs, more so the dialysis he needed.
“Mula pa lang sa pagpa-padiagnose, nakatulong na ang guarantee letter na ibinigay ni Cong. Chua kaya naagapan ang operasyon at agad akong nakapagsimula ng libreng dialysis. Buti na lang, naipasok ako ng tanggapan ni Cong. Chua sa libreng dialysis program nito at malaking ginhawa ito sa mga gastusin,” Reymar said.
