
CANDIDATE for Councilor Ian Pineda Vendivel has dedicated his life to serving his fellow Pasayeños, choosing public service over a lucrative corporate career. As a former Pasay City Councilor who is now seeking the same office, he remains committed to improving the lives of his constituents.
Born on August 7, 1960, in Pasay City, he was raised in their ancestral home at #537 Tengco Street. His early academic years at Malate Catholic School were marked by excellence. He was an honor student in grade school and graduated high school as second honorable mention, earning top marks in Religion and receiving the Boy Scout Leadership Award.
His passion for learning continued into college, where he attended the Philippine College of Criminology before shifting to business management. At tne Lyceum of the Philippines, he was a consistent scholar, graduating as the Most Outstanding Student of the College of Business Administration and serving as President of the Lyceum Management Society for two consecutive years. Furthering his education, he attended the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) in 1991, where he earned a Superior Performance Rank I Award in the Basic Management Program.
Vendivel built an illustrious career in pharmaceutical marketing, culminating in his role as Vice-President and Marketing Director of Astellas Pharma Phils. Inc. He was set to assume the presidency of the company in 2008 when his heart was drawn to public service, a calling he had nurtured since the age of 16 when he became Kabataang Barangay Chairman of Barangay 108, Zone 12. His leadership journey continued as he was elected 1st Kagawad and later served as Barangay Captain.
Despite proddings to choose corporate leadership, Vendivel prioritized his duty to Pasayeños, opting to serve as a Pasay City Councilor instead of pursuing a higher corporate role. His decision reflected a deep commitment to his community, which has honored him with multiple electoral victories.
Vendivel has received 42 sales and marketing awards from local and international bodies, including the prestigious “Who’s Who in the World” award in 1996 and recognition in the 20th Edition of the “Who’s Who in the World” 2003 publication. His exemplary contributions to the professional sector earned him the “Parangal ng Bayan” Most Outstanding Filipino Award for four consecutive years (1999-2002), leading to his induction into the Hall of Fame of Achievers.
Beyond business and politics, Vendivel co-hosted the award-winning public service TV program “Mahal” with Cielito “Mahal” Del Mundo for eight years on Channels 11 and 13. He also received the Star Award for Television as Most Outstanding Public Service Show Host.
Vendivel also actively participates in socio-civic organizations. He is past president of the Rotary Club of Makati San Lorenzo and currently the Secretary of the Board of the Philippine National Red Cross (Pasay Chapter).
A devout Catholic, he is a former Lay Minister at Sta. Clara Parish Church and a Third Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Council 4267 in Pasay City. He is also a member of the Cofradia del Santo Entierro of Sta. Clara Parish Church.
Now, Ian P. Vendivel continues his mission to serve and uplift his fellow Pasayeños. His journey reflects a lifetime of leadership, unwavering dedication, and a commitment to making a lasting impact on his community thru ‘servant leadership’ and dedication to God and country.
