Immigration Bureau awarded ISO

BI ISO

Once again, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) successfully hurdled the surveillance audit conducted by experts from Societe Generale Surveillance (SGS).

BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval said the BI was awarded its ISO certification in a ceremony held at the BI’s main office last January 16.

Sandoval said the BI first obtained its ISO certification 9001:2008 in 2016 and was the first of all agencies attached to the Department of Justice (DOJ) to be ISO-certified. It successfully transitioned to ISO 9001:2015 in 2018.

According to BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco, the certification affirmed the BI’s continued observance of internationally-recognized organizational practices and its efforts to provide its clients with quality performance and services that are globally competitive.

“The BI has been assessed and certified as meeting the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 for the entry and exit formalities for primary inspection of foreign nationals at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA). Also included in the certification is the extension of stay of temporary visitors at the BI Main Office,” Tansingco said.

“The certification is a testament of our continued goal of providing the best immigration service,” said Tansingco.

“Despite the challenges of the past 2 years, we remain committed in improving the quality of service we give to the public,” he added.
