Isko encourages Manilans to get vaccinated vs COVID

“I RESPECT your doubts and fear of vaccine but we have to be practical.”

Thus said Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, as he encouraged city residents to get vaccinated and study very well the benefits of getting inoculated as against the disadvantages of declining the vaccine.

“Di ko maiaalis dala na din ng kasaysayan o naganap ilang taon nang nakakaraan but remember, let us be practical. I encourage each and everyone for the simple reason that anything above zero is positive,” Moreno said.

The mayor cited that the benefits of getting vaccinated far outweigh the losses, adding that he himself will guarantee that only the vaccines that have been duly certified as safe by the local health authorities like the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will be used and will be given for free.

“Ano ba ang mahalaga, proteksyon o habambuhay kang nangangamba? In just a matter of time, we will have it (vaccine). It is not a guarantee na di na tayo magkaka-COVID ngunit kung tayo ay magkakabakuna, no matter kung ilang percent, meron tayong panlaban at di tayo mauuwi at mapabibilang sa severe cases,” said Moreno.

Moreno called on the residents who have not registered for the free vaccination to already sign up with www.covid19vaccine.com, saying being registered does not mean that one can no longer change his mind.

Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna said that so far, a total of 676,461 individuals have expressed interest in getting vaccinated as they registered for the city’s COVID-19 vaccination program.

The figures came from a report provided for by Manila Health Department (MHD) head Dr. Arnold ‘Poks’ Pangan, who is handling the creation of the masterlist of priority groups through registration of individuals interested in getting inoculated for free.

Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna and Manila Health Department chief Dr. Poks Pangan yesterday led a mass vaccination simulation involving senior citizens.
