“MAGING mapagkumbaba tayo at magkaroon ng malasakit sa kapwa.”
Thus, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno urged all city officials and workers to practice these virtues, stressing that as public servants, they are all bound by duty to help those who need it.
“Ang tao, hindi pupunta at hihingi ng serbisyo ng gobyerno kung kaya nila. Lahat ng nagpupunta sa gobyerno, may pangangailangan,” Moreno said.
The mayor also reminded his fellow government workers that they owe their positions to the citizens of Manila and should be happy to be of service to them.
He also appealed to those working in the city government to bear in mind that it is their foremost duty to render service to the public the best way they can and that in case nothing can be done, it should be relayed with utmost patience and properly.
“Dahil hindi perpekto ang gobyerno at minsan hindi sapat ang kakayahan, pakitungunhan lang nang maayos ang taong dumating, tao mong ituring, that will ease his problems already,” Moreno said.
The mayor stressed government services must be made available to everyone regardless of his or her status in life or society.
He added there is nothing wrong with exercising utmost humility and that having empathy, specially if you are a government worker.
“Lagi kong pakiusap, magpakumbaba tayo. Ang kababang loob, walang pagkakamali ‘yan. Ituring natin na parang mga kamaganak o kapamilya natin ang mamamayan pagkat tayo ay nabubuhay… nairaraos ang pamilya, dala ng tayo ay kawani ng pamahalaan na ang obligasyon ay maglingod sa bayan at mamamayan,” Moreno said.
