MANILA Mayor Isko Moreno is encouraging businessmen who have left before he became mayor due to distrust to come back and restore their confidence in the city government, assuring certainty and stability in the present administration.

In his speech at the recent opening of the Coca-Cola distribution center in Manila, Moreno thanked the said company for returning to the city and expressed hope that others will follow suit.

“Hinihikayat ko ang mga mamumuhunan na muling pagtiwalaan ang lungsod ng Maynila at ang mga natitira pa na manatili,” Moreno said.

The mayor bared that another big company is going back to its former place in the Intramuros area after having left due to differences with the previous local government and prior to his assumption into office.

He expressed hope that the businesses which choose Manila as their base of operations would consider hiring Manila residents.

According to Moreno, about 1,000 businesses have been registered with the city for the first three weeks of January 2021.

“Please continue hiring the people of Manila,” he said, noting that if each of the said 1,000 businesses will hire just one resident each, it would already mean a thousand jobs for the citizens of Manila.

“We are optimistic that one way or another, businesses will bounce back or flourish because there is nowhere else to go, we’re already down,” he added.

Moreno assured investors that there will be no room for instability in policy-making on the part of the local government to ensure hassle-free and smooth operations of businesses in the city.
