A STERN warning was issued by Manila Mayor Isko Moreno to criminal elements not to make Baseco a haven for their kind, saying he will not allow it.

Moreno made the pronouncement after he and Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna inaugurated the New Baseco Baywalk where he also urged the residents to inform his office should they know of anyone engaging in illegal activities within the community.

The mayor also asked the residents to inform either City Hall or police authorities about the presence of fugitives from justice or ‘wanted’ persons in the neighborhood, saying he is committed to provide them with a peaceful environment but would need everybody’s help and cooperation.

The mayor stressed that the reputation of any community rests on the hands of its citizens and as such, he expects the residents to do their share in keeping their area of abode as peaceful as possible.

Moreno also said that the efforts to make Baseco free from criminals is now complemented by the creation of a new police precinct which is now situated right within the area.

Noting that for the first time, there is now a police precinct that would serve the Baseco community directly, Moreno said the residents should help the police assigned to protect them by keeping them informed about any irregular activities in the area or presence of ‘wanted’ persons there.
